Harold's Midnight Adventure Published!

Hooray! I am now a published author. I originally wrote the poem “Ode to a Fairy Ring” from which Harold’s Midnight Adventure is structured around, during an inspirational train ride from London to Forrest Row in October 1995. I was studying storytelling at Emerson College School of Storytelling. Emerson College, yes, named for the writer who lived in the area, is surrounded by history and tradition. Hence my inspiration. Master Storyteller teacher Ashley Ramadan like the poem so much, he asked me to perform it a couple of weeks later. It was during an All Hallows Eve celebration. We danced and sang with the fairy folk.

Last year, I was thinking about my grandfather Harold. He is an inspirational figure in my life. A musician, who played organ and piano for silent moves and drums in vaudeville. He taught me about music and humor.

While the book is recommended for children 6 and up, I have told “Ode to a Fairy Ring” to thousands of people since then. The last time was last November for a University of Illinois Alumni Dance Concert at links hall. I was helping to produce the Chicago program. I received a BFA in Dance 1980.

The wonderful illustrations are by Ukrainian artist Kate Gleyzer. The book is currently available on Amazon.

My next project is about sobriety. July 1 was my 33 year celebration. I have found that the power of story in my life has contributed to me remaining that way. The book will be about of my journey and stories from around the world I’ve told that have helped me. I hope to be posting my musings weekly as the book develops.

Thanks,

Mark
